: Elon Musk to answer questions from Twitter staff this week


Elon Musk will attend an all-hands meeting this week at Twitter Inc. and answer questions from employees for the first time since announcing his $44 billion takeover of the company.

Business Insider first reported the meeting Monday. Twitter

confirmed with MarketWatch that such a meeting was happening. The meeting will reportedly be held virtually Thursday morning, and Musk will address employees and answer pre-submitted questions.

Musk, who signed a legally binding contract to buy the company and waived due diligence, has recently challenged Twitter over the number of bots on its service, leading to speculation he was trying to back out of the deal or renegotiate the price. Last week, Twitter said it would provide Musk a “firehose” of internal data on bots and spam accounts.

Many Twitter employees have been on edge since the Tesla Inc.

chief executive and world’s wealthiest individual launched his bid to buy the social-media company. Musk has harshly criticized Twitter’s executives and operations, and has said all Tesla employees must return to the office full time, potentially setting up a clash with Twitter workers. Earlier this year, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal reiterated company policy that employees could work from home, or wherever they feel most productive, “forever.”
